What started her anorexia?

She went nowhere.

It's hard to be successful when you're named after a phony US pasta product shaped like a tear.

I've never heard of her, but certainly nothing whatsoever went wrong in that performance. It's fantastic.

She's no Karen Carpenter.

I saw her as a kid performer singing endless love. Very pervy.

She was big in the UK as a kid and then became a one hit wonder in the US appearing on all the talk shows and variety shows.

The only time I’ve ever heard of her is when Mrs. Slocombe mentioned that she had purchased an album of Lena’s for her cat’s birthday because it was the o Lu thing that would get the cat to go outside in the rain to use the bathroom.

Scotland here. My aunt owned a holiday flat in Rothesay and knew Lena’s family. They never got over what happened to her. She could have become a great musical theatre performer. She had the talent.

Never heard of her. Wow, what a tragic life. This is why I love DL!

She did a variety show with Bonnie Langford who made a pretty big splash in Angela Lansbury's Gypsy as Baby June. At this point, Lena is the better entertainer and certainly more attractive. They were selling the concept that Lena was the new Judy Garland and Langford the new Shirley Temple.

She was a fat slob.

She was a constant on light entertainment shows in the 70s and early 80s in the UK, and had her own series. It was obvious that she was seriously ill when she went from a normal, chubby little girl to a haggard scarecrow seemingly overnight.

She never looked too thin to me.

I never heard of her until OP started the thread. I don't think she was ever much of a thing in the US. She definitely had her demons, poor girl.

Her eyes are haunted, crazy.

She seems sweet, if a bit dim, in this joint interview with her new husband. Odd to hear the interviewer joke that having anorexia "saves on some of the restaurant bills."
