Cher's memoirs will be released in two volumes.

[quote]Her long-gestating story was described by the publisher as “a life too immense for only one book”.

Why not? Julie Andrews did it! Cher certainly has had enough life for two volumes.

by Anonymousreply 2July 24, 2024 4:54 PM

Of course it's that long. We need to find out what she wore on all occasions. That will take pages and pages.

by Anonymousreply 3July 24, 2024 5:02 PM

Part One: “I was born in the wagon of a travelin’ show”

by Anonymousreply 4July 24, 2024 5:54 PM

She already did her biography in the late 90's. It was cute, and it was centered around her "First times" doing things.

by Anonymousreply 5July 24, 2024 5:57 PM

It’s dumb to have two books. Everyone will be interested in the first one where she met Sonny, had a couple of hits and then their main project became to make her a star, which they managed to do. Having outgrown Sonny’s controlling ways she divorces him. Her collaboration with Bob Mackie, her Time cover. her successful acting career with her winning an Oscar for Best Actress. That’s the end of the interesting part.

The second volume would just be “Then I cut this single, then I went to Japan for this concert . . .” I mean who really cares about the last 25-30 years which have been much of a muchness, with one “comeback” single every 10 years or so?

by Anonymousreply 6July 24, 2024 6:08 PM

[quote]“a life too immense for only one book”.

Please. The greedy bitch just wants you to pay twice.

by Anonymousreply 7July 24, 2024 6:11 PM

[quote] which have been much of a muchness,

Mary!

by Anonymousreply 8July 24, 2024 6:12 PM

Is she going to try and convince the public Tommy Cruise is straight?

What about Geffen?

by Anonymousreply 9July 24, 2024 6:26 PM

I deserve at least a chapter.

by Anonymousreply 10July 24, 2024 6:55 PM

R10 you do, hon…

Gypsies, Trans, & Thieves

by Anonymousreply 11July 24, 2024 7:26 PM

Streisand wanted two volumes for her memoir - she admitted 1.000+ pages in one book was too much for any reader. Her publisher told her no - it would be released as just one volume. They chopped out around 50 pages and released it just under 1,000 pages.

by Anonymousreply 12October 16, 2024 10:28 PM

1 per century.

by Anonymousreply 13October 16, 2024 10:33 PM

The chapter on "Suspect" alone DEMANDED a second volume.

by Anonymousreply 14October 16, 2024 11:05 PM

And Streisand's sales were not good. The audiobook was pretty good with the musical inserts but so long. The physical book was intimidating. Her old fans could break a wrist trying to read it.

Vol 1 may sell for Cher as she'll likely do a book tour and lots of TV on both sides of the pond, unlike Babs, but Vol 2 won't sell.

by Anonymousreply 15October 16, 2024 11:15 PM

I’m here for both volumes. I’d be here for more, in fact.

by Anonymousreply 16October 16, 2024 11:17 PM

Chasity get out of that bush!

by Anonymousreply 17October 16, 2024 11:29 PM

I'm looking forward to this memoir - Cher isn't afraid to talk shit about other celebrities.

by Anonymousreply 18October 16, 2024 11:32 PM

The books will weigh more than her.

by Anonymousreply 19October 16, 2024 11:33 PM

^Her what?

by Anonymousreply 20October 17, 2024 12:21 AM

More than her ass in the Turn Back Time video, probably.

by Anonymousreply 21October 17, 2024 12:29 AM

R12, I wouldn’t be interested unless the extra 50 pgs were from the 1960s.

by Anonymousreply 22October 17, 2024 12:36 AM

I'd be interested in the Rob Camilletti years. She was maybe 40 and he was 22. Her son, Elijah, even said that he liked Rob. Cher said this was the happiest time of her life.

I’m curious. I’ve not read a whole lot of bio about her, never even seen a bio about her. I always like her though and I think she’s a great actress too.

by Anonymousreply 24October 17, 2024 1:06 AM

Show-off.

by Anonymousreply 25October 17, 2024 1:35 AM

WHET Rob Camilletti?

He was so sexy.

by Anonymousreply 26October 17, 2024 1:52 AM

Barbra @R3, you stole A Star Is Born from me in the 1976, and now I will steal your thunder by releasing an autobiography that is actually successful, because people want to read it.

Also, I've had 50 times more plastic surgery than you, and I still nowhere near as grotesque as you do.

by Anonymousreply 27October 17, 2024 1:56 AM

Cher was born in 1946, like me. We ushered in the Baby Boom, witnessed decades of dramatic social change, and made history. Naturally, our memoirs encompass two hefty volumes. OK, non-Boomer?

by Anonymousreply 28October 17, 2024 2:02 AM

How many young junior high school boys will Pedo Cher admit to sleeping with?

by Anonymousreply 29October 17, 2024 2:06 AM

[quote]Cher said this was the happiest time of her life.

He was a total stud. Anybody would've been thrilled to get pounded by his big Italian cock.

As someone who saw her on two different farewell tours, this comes as no surprise.

by Anonymousreply 31October 17, 2024 2:13 AM

I hope she dishes on the tawdry, raunchy underside of doing voiceover work for the “Scooby Doo Mysteries”: the Scrappy Doo years.

by Anonymousreply 32October 17, 2024 2:20 AM

I bought an autographed copy of her book 'The First Time' back in November, 1998, when she released it. She was touring the country signing books at the time, at Barnes and Noble. She came to RI and visited two locations - at the time, I couldn't make either signing, but she signed plenty of extra copies for the stores to sell (I got one the following day - they had stacks of them). I remember reading the book cover to cover and enjoyed what I read. However, today I can't recall one story she shared in that book.

by Anonymousreply 33October 17, 2024 2:34 AM

Interesting that just as Barbra did for her memoir last year, Cher chose a B&W photo from the 1960s as her cover shot for her memoir. Was she inspired by Barbra or just copied her ?

by Anonymousreply 34October 17, 2024 2:37 AM

Old and New Testaments

by Anonymousreply 35October 17, 2024 3:56 AM

Will this be released in paperback in the magazine section at CVS?

by Anonymousreply 36October 17, 2024 11:14 AM

[quote] “a life too immense for only one book”.

Yet Stephen Hawking managed to fit A Brief History of Time into about 250 pages.

by Anonymousreply 37October 17, 2024 11:50 AM

Still, I guess Cher is older than Time.

by Anonymousreply 38October 17, 2024 11:50 AM

R36 On Amazon, there is a paperback option for a much higher price than the hardcover - problem is you can't click on it for pre-order. Nor can you click on the eBook option for pre-order (audible isn't available).

by Anonymousreply 39October 17, 2024 12:02 PM

R39, that’s usually the large print edition.

by Anonymousreply 40October 17, 2024 12:25 PM

R34, no one cares about Babs, which is why her shitty memoir bombed.

by Anonymousreply 41October 17, 2024 12:25 PM

Didn’t Cher admit once that she’s practically illiterate? This book will mostly be a talk into recorder type deal.

by Anonymousreply 42October 17, 2024 1:12 PM

Cher isn't illiterate, she grew up with dyslexia.

Illiterate implies dumb and that is one thing Cher isn't.

by Anonymousreply 43October 17, 2024 1:21 PM

Talking and writing are not the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 44October 17, 2024 1:56 PM

[quote]Illiterate implies dumb and that is one thing Cher isn't.

Cher thought Mount Rushmore was a natural site.

by Anonymousreply 45October 17, 2024 2:37 PM

Cher shows up in my shorts a lot, mostly clips of her interviews. I've grown to really like her.

by Anonymousreply 46October 17, 2024 3:00 PM

If Chaz is an example of what Cher's long gestations produce, she may need four volumes.

by Anonymousreply 47October 17, 2024 3:04 PM

She’ll be talking me me me, so Mt Rushmore won’t enter into it, R45.

by Anonymousreply 48October 17, 2024 3:08 PM

I think me, me me is the point of an autobiography.

Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 49October 17, 2024 3:50 PM

Did she write in on papyrus?

by Anonymousreply 50October 17, 2024 4:27 PM

R43, dyslexia doesn’t go away. R49 called her an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 51October 17, 2024 5:33 PM

There are some fantastic bios that were dictated. That book they used for Goodfellas, for instance. Miles Davis’ bio. I hope she talks about the music to, not just marriages and relationships.

by Anonymousreply 52October 17, 2024 6:42 PM

[quote] Cher thought Mount Rushmore was a natural site.

Thar never happened. Sonny put out a book that he didn’t write and admitted that he made it up. Cher was furious with him.

by Anonymousreply 53October 17, 2024 6:56 PM

It WAS a natural site until some assholes carved it up.

by Anonymousreply 54October 17, 2024 6:59 PM

I used to not be a big fan of Cher's. But then she saved that elephant and she admitted that Madonna isn't a nice person, so I started liking her a lot more. Also, she's a better actor than musician, in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 55October 17, 2024 7:40 PM

What's a book?

by Anonymousreply 56October 17, 2024 7:45 PM

The first volume of Julie’s memoir, birth to Broadway, is terrific. The second, which begins with her move from theater to film, is dull, dull, dull.

by Anonymousreply 57October 17, 2024 8:31 PM

R53, yeah, I think it was Roslyn Kind who thought that.

by Anonymousreply 58October 17, 2024 8:33 PM

I was molested by a gypsy.

by Anonymousreply 59October 17, 2024 8:41 PM

She was a whore. Now, she's an old whore.

by Anonymousreply 60October 17, 2024 9:23 PM

But no tramps or thieves, Lorna at R59?

by Anonymousreply 61October 17, 2024 9:35 PM

Nope. But I have vague memories of a Dark Lady. I'm going in to memory regression therapy so I can work through it. I'm hoping they will help me turn back time and remember it. I believe it might help. While I work through this I hope you will all offer me your love and understanding.

by Anonymousreply 62October 17, 2024 9:38 PM

I wonder if The View will be on her schedule to stop by and promote the book ? She hasn't been on there in a very long time - it would be a good interview.
