I feel under the weather today. Chilled and listless, I only had coffee, cheese, and crackers for breakfast. For lunch I had a protein shake and strawberries. For dinner I might have Ritz crackers with potted meat, which I love. If I die, you can have my stuff.

I got a new med at the pharmacy today, and the new baby pharmacist was called over to explain it to me. He fumbled with the box for a bit, and ended up reading me the instructions off the label.

I worked in a restaurant that had a pretty fancy wine list. I knew nothing about wines. I asked my co-worker what I should say when someone asked me about a certain wine. He said to just re-read what it said on the menu (each wine was followed by a brief description). E.g.,: Fruity with notes of peach and apple.
So, I should say: "That wine is fruity! It has notes of peach and apple!"

I had to catch an adolescent possum in my back yard this evening. I just walked up and stuck a bucket it over it, then flipped the bucket around and put a trash can lid over the bucket to cover it.
I then walked to a nearby vacant field and released it.
I've read they're not dumb, but they sure do know how to act dumb.

I got a very annoyed look from the barista when I asked for an iced pumpkin spiced latte. Sure, the weather was in the 50's but I like crunching the ice when I'm at work since it annoys Pam, my cubicle mate. She's a Christian but a real phony one and I know gay people make her nervous so I'll do little things to annoy her. It really sets her off when I click my pen multiple times so I tell her it's a nervous habit I picked up in school and I just can't help it. I am really hoping she moves soon, I miss looking at porn when I'm at work.

Why do you say that? People always say it's "liquid gold," etc.
I've thought about buying a Costco rotisserie chicken because I wanted to make stock with the bones. (I don't think you need to waste the meat in there. Although I'm sure it's better if you use some meat.)

The new PC is working beautifully, I can't believe it takes all of five seconds to see the login screen! Never again. I'm feeling so much more productive already.
Couple of things marred my experience, though. First, that one USB-C port can't be used for charging my mobile phone because the computer shuts down immediately. Apparently it's only for data transfer? So that sucks. Why would anyone design it that way?
Second, I forgot my national digital certificate password, so I can't access the online portal where all my health records are stored, and I can't communicate with my primary physician and dentist. So now I'll have to go back to the old computer and export the certificate with a new password. This is a relatively minor annoyance, though.
Lastly, I won't be torrenting porn anymore, because apparently the constant writing/reading that entails isn't good for my new SSD hard drive. It'll be a healthy change for me, I think, so that's not really a loss.

Seems like a normal design. I don't consider the ports in my computers as charging ports. They're for data transfer.
Plug your phone into a wall or a power bank, if all you want to do is charge the battery.

I don't know if you remember my post about the housefly that got into the house. I thought it had gotten out or Cos had eaten it. Turns out, it was atracted to the Zevo bug catcher and got stuck, as it should have. It scared the shit out of me when I changed the insert! Until now, it's just been gnats and fruit fly-type insects that it's caught. Seeing that huge fly was quite a jolt.
I'm finally having my second bathroom updated. Kohler is installing a new tub and shower wall and I'm getting a handheld and overhead shower head. I have to buy the vanity and toilet but they will install it. I'm so happy. I hate the shower doors and would like a shower rod. Once installed, I shall take a long luxurious bath and rinse off with the handheld spray head. I've lived here 25 years and all other rooms have been painted/updated.

by Anonymous | reply 145 | October 7, 2024 4:10 PM |
R142, the bathroom will be an off-white color with grey walls to match the grey marble vinyly flooring that's already installed. I would like a higher toilet with elongated seat. I just have to make sure the dimensions are the same as the current toilet. I really wanted to keep the grey tub but a replacement was the better choice (it's not a metal tub). If I had the money, I would have had a clawfoot bathtub installed. I love those and almost bought a house just because of the tub.
Yes, R144. I am extremely lucky. When I had the kitchen redone, and was waiting for the countertop and sink, I was washing dishes in the bathtub. It was no easy feat, considering the damned shower doors.

r127 Interesting, I charge all my stuff (phone, headphones, flashlight...) through the USB port on my computer because it's physically closer to me and handier than the outlet in the wall. I'd charge my electric shaver that way as well if I could. Never considered I was an outlier in that respect.

The 14 oz. squeeze tube of Daisy Sour Cream is just too much for my occasional needs. I need to stick to the small 8 oz. container of sour cream and only get the big tube when I'm having guests. Actually, I wish Daisy or Breakstone or the supermarket brand would offer a 4 oz. container which would suit my needs even better.

Fats are added for flavor, moisture and texture.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | October 7, 2024 6:53 PM |
Peas are a decent source of fiber.
Men under age 50 should have 31-34 grams of fiber daily.
Men over 50 should have 28 grams of fiber daily.
A half cup of peas has 4.4 grams of fiber.
But if you have IBS or are on a FODMAP diet it's probably best to stay away from peas as they are naturally rich in sorbitol and fructose.

R246- Not the Healthy Valley Low Sodium Vegetable Soup I've been buying for about 15 years- I usually make my own soups but I like the Health Valley soups as fillers. The low sodium Vegetable Soup is only 90 mg of sodium for the entire can. The low sodium Tomato Soup is only 50 mg of sodium for the entire can of soup.

Season 1 of Downton Abbey was the best season. Once the war took place, things went downhill. Even Julian Fellows said that, had he known there would be so many seasons, he wouldn't have put the war so soon (season 2).

R279 But did you keep the thin bar of Dial soap and put it with others you've been keeping in order to melt and reform them into a soap ball or another bar of soap?
by Anonymous | reply 282 | October 13, 2024 6:49 PM |
You can melt soap?
by Anonymous | reply 283 | October 13, 2024 6:52 PM |
My thin shower soap goes to the sink for handwashing until it gets too thin for that and then the trash. But this melting concept opens a whole new world.
by Anonymous | reply 284 | October 13, 2024 6:54 PM |
No, Ma @r282, I didn't.
But I did think of you as I was tossing the thin soap in the trash and how you would have disapproved of my actions.
by Anonymous | reply 285 | October 13, 2024 6:59 PM |
I looked into it. You canāt let the soap get too hot or something undesirable happens, which means you need a thermometer in addition to a double-boiler. The fumes can be poisonous so you need ventilation.
Trash it is.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | October 13, 2024 7:03 PM |
You can save your soap slivers and put them in these soap saver pouches/bags and then use the pouch to scrub your skin, it's exfoliating.
Soap saver bags available at amazon, temu, kohls...
You're welcome.

I converted to gel because of the messy soap problem. I tried putting the soap scraps in an onion bag, but it was too ridiculous even for me. If I had to do it again, Iād use a second-hand mandolin slicer and boil the shavings into some kind of goo. I donāt have adventure cookware, so Iād have to visit Goodwill.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | October 13, 2024 7:12 PM |
Once I open a new bar of soap, I stick the old sliver on top of the new bar when itās wet and keep using it until it is gone, usually down the drain.

by Anonymous | reply 291 | October 13, 2024 9:01 PM |
There's different "tutorials" on youtube how to handle the small bars of soap to make new bars. The guy (at link) shreds his prior to "melting" them down, then puts the mixture into a makeshift mold.
Personally, I just attach the small bar of soap to the new bar of soap when they're both wet with warm water while I'm in the shower.

River is considering sending out autographed photographs of himself for a modest fee if there is enough interest. If this is something you would be pay for, make your interest known in the comments section of his latest video so he can determine if there is a demand.
He said he knows it's vulgar and pretentious but that's who he is. I have to agree it.
This is an odd way to increase his earnings. He has been asked many times for his skincare routine which he refuses to divulge because the manufacturers' aren't paying him to advertise for them. But how can they offer to sponsor or pay him if he doesn't first make it known he uses their products? I don't understand his logic.

r350, I also dislike that River is right wing and has said some disparaging things about Biden.
I started watching him when he had an ASMR channel before he had the Sussex channel. I love a British accent. He doesn't do ASMR anymore and he did take down the ASMR channel for a while but then put the old videos back up. He did a lot of ASMR role play, bitchy waiter, posh sales associate selling clothes and accessories, etc.
Unfortunately, most of the anti-Sussex youtubers are MAGATs and have awful, grating voices.
At least River has a nice voice, provides some entertainment with his costumes, occasionally a little British history lesson and I like seeing his thrift shop finds.
