Alison Sweeney Is About To Star In Her 30th Hallmark Movie
Hallmark Channel may want to consider a nickname like Ali’s Place: Alison Sweeney is about to celebrate her 30th movie for the media company.
This Time Each Year will premiere October 24 as part of the kick off for Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas programming event. Sweeney plays Lauren, who was once in love with Kevin (Niall Matter) but nearly a year after their separation, they now focus on co-parenting their young son Charlie (Ezra Wilson). Despite the split, Kevin is determined to make their family whole again.
A special first look of the film will debut during Sweeney’s 10th Hannah Swensen movie franchise installment, A Sprinkle of Deceit: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, that’s premiering October 4 on Hallmark Mystery.

If Sweeney's been in 30, Lacey Chabert must have been in 458, at least.

Don't even big names on Hallmark only make about $100K per movie?
[quote]How much do Hallmark movie actors make per movie? Depending on their role, time on set, and call list placement, Hallmark actors can earn $5,600–$24,000 per movie. Leading roles played by bigger celebrities can bring in up to $65,000 per film for actors

30 movies at 65 K each is two million.

Alison was THE star of Days when they fired Deidre & Drake in the early 2010’s. Suzzie Rogers flipped her wig when Allie became THE star.

Also, r4, it's two million for 30 movies...not much.

How long is one shoot? One week? One month? If it's one week, the salary is good.

R12 I think they do it over a couple of weeks. Maybe 20-30 K/ week.

My guilty pleasure secret admission (which I have now made TWICE on here today in different threads)....
I LOVE Hallmark Mystery movies. They are the most predictable, easy-to-digest, low-stakes blocks of softened cream cheese ever.
My favorite are the baking mysteries starring Alison Sweeney and that Cameron guy who seems handsome at first, but then you realize he is just symmetrical, bland and overly smooth. You can watch them over and over again because you forget about them as soon as the first credit rolls.
I can't get enough of them, though. Other good ones are Garage Sale Mysteries with popular felon Lori Loughlin and Morning Show Mysteries with Holly Robinson Pete (written by Al Roker!)
Brooke Shields had one for a bit where she was a florist who cracked cases, but it only lasted three or four movies.
(I have a fucking masters degree.)

r11 Hallmark movies take only 2 weeks to film though.

Even so, r22, think of it as 30 episodes of a TV show.

It is quick money for 2 weeks of work. She only does a couple each year. The short schedule has allowed her to do other projects.

Meh - actors like to work - particularly soap actors who've done the same shit for decades. What else is she gonna do? Soap actors must get bored to death - same sets, same-ish storylines, etc.
She may have some producer credits with these movies, so her paychecks are higher than you would expect.

R25 - She does have producer credit for most of them.

r25 You contradicted yourself. She probably stopped doing days of our lives because it is the same shit. A 2 week gig where she gets to play someone different (although to be honest hallmark movies are all the same) at this point in her life is more interesting. Also a decade ago she did that weight loss show, and doing hallmark made sense since it didn't interfere with that. Most actors with a little bit of money do real estate and endorsements so she probably has a couple of things to juggle.
If you are an actor not interested in prestige or "the craft" being a hallmark actor is ideal.

r25 It looks better on her IMDB to have different roles than just a daytime soap. I know there is one actor from "one life to live" who had only 3 credits since she was doing soaps for almost all of her career.

I feel like she's been on TV forever - I had no idea she's only 48.
Blonde, pretty but plain, middle-aged and weight issues. Hallmark Superfecta.

She would be perfect as the cute and funny mom in a sitcom. At this age, a few added pounds looks good on her.

Nope. I've been in a Hallmark movie, they do not ever film in two weeks. Most often there are fifteen shooting days over three weeks. Even that is pretty brisk, doing it in two weeks for a feature length film is impossible. The more expensively produced Hallmark films might have a fourth week.

Ali wanted to direct at GH when she left Days. She directed a few episodes but she couldn’t get along with that Prissy Queen Frank Valentini so that didn’t work out.
