Celebrities with affable personalities

Snoop Dogg and Mick Jagger both seem to have good senses of humor, for all their fame.

Same with Henry Winkler. His Instagram is endearing.

Who else?

by Anonymousreply 111October 12, 2024 11:27 PM

Snoop is a probable murderer. But he’s so likeable.

by Anonymousreply 1October 11, 2024 1:33 AM

He is not a murderer ...

by Anonymousreply 2October 11, 2024 1:39 AM

Faye Dunaway. Sweetie.

by Anonymousreply 3October 11, 2024 1:43 AM

Dolly.

by Anonymousreply 4October 11, 2024 1:44 AM

Lynda Carter

by Anonymousreply 5October 11, 2024 1:45 AM

by Anonymousreply 6October 11, 2024 1:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 7October 11, 2024 1:47 AM

Julianne Moore, seriously.

by Anonymousreply 8October 11, 2024 1:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 9October 11, 2024 1:49 AM

Sharon Stone.

by Anonymousreply 10October 11, 2024 1:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 11October 11, 2024 1:54 AM

Tom Wopat

Jay O. Sanders

—We all share the same locker row at the gym…they are very down to earth.

The late Phyllis George was very kind to me on more than one occasion.

Alex Trebek was dickish.

by Anonymousreply 12October 11, 2024 1:56 AM

Dick Clark came across as very friendly.

Regis Philbin came across as very fake.

by Anonymousreply 13October 11, 2024 2:00 AM

I only know theatre celebrities, and they are universally affable. It's rare to find one who throws tude around.

On the Particularly Nice list I'd include the late Rebecca Luker, Liz Callaway, Nathan Lane, Bryan Batt, Donna Murphy, Maria Friedman, John Rubinstein, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Elaine Paige, and Judy Kaye.

Personally, I've had great times with Shirley MacLaine and Mandy Patinkin, though I know others have had a different experience.

by Anonymousreply 14October 11, 2024 2:05 AM

[quote]Regis Philbin came across as very fake.

Let it go Kelly.

by Anonymousreply 15October 11, 2024 2:06 AM

Beyoncé reminds me of MJ in that you don’t hear anyone in the industry bash her. In fact she is almost universally loved. MJ is the only celeb I can think of that had that affect except he was more loved by the general public as well. Until you know what.

by Anonymousreply 16October 11, 2024 2:10 AM

R13 yeah I co-sign Dick Clark.

by Anonymousreply 17October 11, 2024 2:11 AM

Dick Clark would have skinned his own mother if someone insisted a contract had to be written on her parchment.

by Anonymousreply 18October 11, 2024 2:14 AM

Brian Stokes Mitchell is a truly lovely guy.

I was shooting my very first episodic tv job opposite "Stokes", and he couldn't have been nicer or more supportive.

Sigourney Weaver has been exceptionally nice and friendly over the number of times we've interacted.

by Anonymousreply 19October 11, 2024 2:14 AM

Sigourney puts her bare feet up on the bulkhead, by the Biz Class lav. I’ve seen it twice. No thank you.

by Anonymousreply 20October 11, 2024 2:16 AM

MAGA Adam Sandler already ruined the good spirit of the thread

by Anonymousreply 21October 11, 2024 2:26 AM

Affable doesn't equal classy, R20.

by Anonymousreply 22October 11, 2024 2:33 AM

I've noticed almost all white women think it's ok to take their shoes off indoors in public places and put their feet all over the furniture. I've seen it a thousand times at Starbuck's and cafes. It is so gross.

by Anonymousreply 23October 11, 2024 2:36 AM

Rude does not equal affable.

by Anonymousreply 24October 11, 2024 2:40 AM

Niecy Nash

by Anonymousreply 25October 11, 2024 2:42 AM

r20 " I’ve seen it twice."

100% you have not.

by Anonymousreply 26October 11, 2024 2:44 AM

Snoop would sell reverse mortgages to dementia patients if he was paid enough. He's a soulless pitchman, just like the rock.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2024 2:45 AM

R26 shouldn’t that be 200% sure that he’s not sure?

by Anonymousreply 28October 11, 2024 2:47 AM

Madonna - charming, delightful and so down to earth.

by Anonymousreply 29October 11, 2024 2:51 AM

I think Michael Douglas could be interesting.

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2024 2:52 AM

Vance

by Anonymousreply 31October 11, 2024 2:56 AM

Carlos Alazraqui

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2024 2:57 AM

David Hyde Pierce. Never heard a bad word about him.

by Anonymousreply 33October 11, 2024 2:59 AM

Mark Hamill had an affable personality on Twitter. I left the platform shortly after Elmo’s takeover.

by Anonymousreply 34October 11, 2024 3:07 AM

Kathryn Hahn is the very definition of "affable."

by Anonymousreply 35October 11, 2024 3:10 AM

Michelle Obama

by Anonymousreply 36October 11, 2024 3:12 AM

Mavis Staples

by Anonymousreply 37October 11, 2024 3:23 AM

Ryan Gosling

by Anonymousreply 38October 11, 2024 3:28 AM

Mavis Beacon

by Anonymousreply 39October 11, 2024 3:28 AM

I've never heard a bad word about Terri Schiavo.

Or from her, for that matter.

by Anonymousreply 40October 11, 2024 3:29 AM

[quote] Beyoncé reminds me of MJ in that you don’t hear anyone in the industry bash her. In fact she is almost universally loved.

Beyoncé seems very dumb, especially when she starts talking. Yet she's smart enough to stay off of social media. She's not a recluse, but for a major celebrity, she seems pretty private.

"Universally loved" is a strong description. I have slightly positive feelings about Beyoncé. I'm sure there are people who are indifferent.

by Anonymousreply 41October 11, 2024 3:46 AM

I know I'll get roasted but I like Elon Musk. His personality is so goofy.

by Anonymousreply 42October 11, 2024 3:49 AM

How many fucking threads so we need about this topic?

by Anonymousreply 43October 11, 2024 3:55 AM

Molly Shannon

by Anonymousreply 44October 11, 2024 4:00 AM

6, just to be polite and friendly.

by Anonymousreply 45October 11, 2024 4:00 AM

Adam Sandler is MAGA? That's no loss for me, but I hadn't suspected. I mostly try to forget he exists.

by Anonymousreply 46October 11, 2024 4:01 AM

Some of these people were mentioned in the Reddit rudest celebrities thread.

by Anonymousreply 47October 11, 2024 4:16 AM

Catherine Keener and Spike Jonze came together to a shmoozy industry party I threw once. They were both lovely, chatty and friendly. Keener in particular seemed humble and down to earth. We talked for a long time. I'd never heard of restless leg syndrome before I met her, and it really came in handy a few years later when I had a spell of restless leg myself. I was able put a label to it to tell my doctor.

by Anonymousreply 48October 11, 2024 4:20 AM

R41 I mean amongst the industry and her peers. Even Madge had other females/ppl in the industry talk shit about her; most divas do. Beyoncé is universally loved, other celebs talk about how sweet, and enchanting she is. Wasn’t Barba Streisand regarded in the same esteem?

by Anonymousreply 49October 11, 2024 4:23 AM

I’m going to mention Nathan Lane because there’s no other way he’d show up in a thread about affability.

by Anonymousreply 50October 11, 2024 4:28 AM

R50, see R14.

by Anonymousreply 51October 11, 2024 4:33 AM

Allison Janney

by Anonymousreply 52October 11, 2024 4:33 AM

R14 here. I only mentioned people that I know personally. I get the sense that some here are posting based on social media or "news" stories -or just impressions. Not quite the same thing. I've known Nathan Lane since 2004. With me, he's never been anything other than friendly and professional. Always witty and charming.

by Anonymousreply 53October 11, 2024 4:50 AM

Tom Hanks

by Anonymousreply 54October 11, 2024 4:50 AM

Ted Danson has a very good reputation for being kind.

by Anonymousreply 55October 11, 2024 4:52 AM

Aw, I’m rewatching The Good Wife and I loved Nathan Lane’s character.

by Anonymousreply 56October 11, 2024 5:02 AM

Lane must not have been a mean drunk, then.

by Anonymousreply 57October 11, 2024 5:08 AM

Mariska Hargitay was very sweet when I met her. Harry Styles as well.

by Anonymousreply 58October 11, 2024 6:50 AM

Let me add to the Brian Stokes Mitchell love. He truly is one of the nicest (and classiest) guys you could ever meet. I absolutely adore him.

Donna Murphy and Kelli O’Hara are also sweet as can be.

by Anonymousreply 59October 11, 2024 7:09 AM

[quote]Michelle Obama

I dunno r36. “Affable” is not the first word that comes to mind when considering Michelle Obama's positive qualities. A strong personality, sure. Affable, not so sure. Affable has kind of a mild and gentle sense to it, not something she's generally known for.

by Anonymousreply 67October 11, 2024 3:07 PM

R42 is trolling.

by Anonymousreply 68October 11, 2024 3:26 PM

Nathan Lane? OH MY SIDES!

And I say that as someone who thinks he's fantastically talented. But affable? Nope. Nyet. Nunca.

OTOH, Brian Stokes Mitchell is as lovely as can be. Some late theatre greats who truly were affable: Rebecca Luker, Gavin Creel, Marin Mazzie, Chita Rivera.

In TV land, Regis Philbin was absolutely affable. Would run into him at the gym. Joy Behar is great, as are Mariska Hargitay and David Hyde Pierce.

From film: Bill Nighy was fantastic. Julianne Moore too. I've even had charming encounters with Frances McDormand, but I don't think everyone gets to see that side of her.

by Anonymousreply 69October 11, 2024 3:28 PM

I once met Fat Joe at the McDonalds next to SOBs in lower Manhattan. He and his crew came in while I was still in line. Very down to earth, up on current events, and just overall funny.

by Anonymousreply 70October 11, 2024 3:29 PM

Mick Jagger has led a charmed as pie life.

by Anonymousreply 71October 11, 2024 4:06 PM

Mark Hamill

by Anonymousreply 72October 11, 2024 4:18 PM

Andy Roddick

by Anonymousreply 73October 11, 2024 4:18 PM

Trust me. Snoop Dogg is a whole lot more than affable.

by Anonymousreply 74October 11, 2024 4:26 PM

Linda Lavin

by Anonymousreply 75October 11, 2024 5:04 PM

R73 Andy’s podcast is a welcome surprise. I’d always thought of him as kind of a douche.

by Anonymousreply 76October 11, 2024 5:10 PM

Snoop is fugly. Nobody wants to fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 77October 11, 2024 5:12 PM

Cher.

Liza.

Jennifer Aniston.

by Anonymousreply 78October 11, 2024 5:13 PM

Kate Winslet

by Anonymousreply 79October 11, 2024 5:14 PM

Mindy Cohn is overall jolly, but she can be a bitch at times.

by Anonymousreply 80October 11, 2024 5:15 PM

Cher does not seem affable, to me. Is she unreasonably rude? No.

by Anonymousreply 81October 11, 2024 5:16 PM

[quote] Mick is a diva. Keith is the one I’d want to have a beer with.

Why do people always picture themselves having a beer with celebrities?

That's why dumb ass George W. Bush (the second Bush) got elected. Too many dumb Americans could picture themselves having a beer with him.

by Anonymousreply 82October 11, 2024 5:18 PM

R77 Snoop is old now but he wasn’t ugly in youth. Not exactly handsome but reasonably attractive with swag. A lot of women like that look. Tall, bony, laid back. And he’s probably hung like a fkin horse.

by Anonymousreply 83October 11, 2024 5:19 PM

R14 = Bryan Batt

by Anonymousreply 84October 11, 2024 5:20 PM

[quote] And he’s probably hung like a fkin horse.

He is.

by Anonymousreply 85October 11, 2024 5:21 PM

R80 Best not to get on her bad side.

by Anonymousreply 86October 11, 2024 5:22 PM

Because I like beer and I’m a Keith fan, R82. It’s not that fucking complicated.

by Anonymousreply 87October 11, 2024 5:47 PM

R87 😂. RIGHT. The thread is called “celebrities with affable personalities” That person who tried to come for you is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 88October 11, 2024 5:50 PM

Sorry, R84, but I'm not Bryan Batt. I fucked him though.

by Anonymousreply 89October 11, 2024 6:17 PM

Conan O'Brien, truly one of the good guys in the business.

by Anonymousreply 90October 11, 2024 6:18 PM

Pedro Pascal comes across as very sweet.

by Anonymousreply 91October 11, 2024 6:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 92October 11, 2024 6:23 PM

Drew Carey.

by Anonymousreply 93October 11, 2024 8:55 PM

Jeffrey Wright is not known to be very nice at all.

His reputation is exactly the opposite.

by Anonymousreply 94October 11, 2024 9:07 PM

Tony Hawk

by Anonymousreply 95October 11, 2024 9:33 PM

I'll third (or is it 4th by now) Mark Hamill. I also follow him on Twitter and he seems to be a good guy.

Harrison Ford seems like a decent guy too, through possibly a bit moody.

I would have said Jimmy Buffett if he was still with us.

Daniel Radcliffe seems like a good guy. Haven't heard much bad ever said about him.

by Anonymousreply 107October 12, 2024 5:13 PM

R96, I was going to say Radcliffe. In interviews, at least, he is very charming and unassuming.

by Anonymousreply 108October 12, 2024 6:01 PM

Steve Buscemi

by Anonymousreply 109October 12, 2024 6:07 PM

I don’t know much about Nathan Lane. He may be the kindest man in the world. He might be an asshole. I don’t know.

But, his ex sister-in-law (his brother’s ex-wife) was a mentor to my son. She told many stories about Lane’s love for and generosity to her daughter.

When the mentor died Nathan Lane was at the wake caring for his niece every step of the way.

In my eyes Nathan Lane is a good man.

by Anonymousreply 110October 12, 2024 6:20 PM

I used to wait on the late Heavy D and he was a very nice charming guy, and everyone liked waiting on him and his girlfriend. So sad he died so young.
