Mallory chose him even though he less climbing experience than the rest of the group, but he knew the most about the oxygen tanks. (And I always thought Mallory also wanted him because he was definitely the best-looking.)

I suppose it’s technically possible he lent clothing to another team member, but I don’t think anyone else would have been in that position on the mountain.

Despite the allure of adventure and glory of climbing Mount Everest, it would be tragic to die in the attempt at just age 22 with your whole life ahead of you, only to have only part of your remain discovered 100 years later.
