I don't think it's world class healthcare. I think it's luck and genes. There's footage of Feinstein and his husband lifting her from wheelchair to car after a meal at Craig's. She looks as frail as any poor old addict who has luck and genes on their side. And those people tend to last a long time. Rich or poor, some people are like Liza and Grace Slick and Keith Richards and some people are dead in a ditch at 40.

Grace Slick will be 85 in a few days and she's still kicking. She stopped drinking and doing drugs years ago but she still smokes cigs.

Vincente Minnelli was a chain smoker and still made it to his eighties.

That stroke was caused by alcohol withdrawal when she was in the hospital recovering from a mastectomy. She had all the symptoms of withdrawal which could have been easily treated but incredibly the hospital staff did not recognize what was happening. Unbelievable.

Seems like she's having something of a renaissance.

Heartbreaking about Bette undiagnosed alcohol withdrawal related stroke-hadn’t heard that.She wasn’t perfect but she was loads of fun!
