How are white people going to dress for this event without looking racist?

I imagine white (and other non-Black) attendees will just wear “standard” Met Gala attire picked out for them by Black stylists as opposed to interpreting the theme. A couple might figure out a way to make “understated allyship” a fashion moment.

I imagine the point of this will be to give Black attendees the chance to turn the biggest themed looks (though, Black celebrities have punched well above their weight in that regards for years now) and also to showcase up-and-coming Black designers and stylists.

The theme should be "Freak Off " in honor of Diddy's trial starting that day. Fun times for all !

Maybe white and other POC shouldn’t go. This is tricky I think. Someone is going to be offended someway-somehow.

I think all the white people should stay home to allow for an all black Met Ball space, like they do on Broadway and the West End. Free from the white gaze. Or in one case in particular, free from the white graze.

Seems like a good theme to me. I'm looking forward to it. I went twice in the 80s when it was a low wattage affair with the social x-rays.

Early in her.career I went to a Sade concert and I have never seen a better dressed audience (mostly black.) The men looked better than the women with amazing tailored suits of all colors and styles. So the black dandy thing is real. I just don’t think any other races can pull it off without looking offensive.
