This is in a fringe corner of Marvel comics, the Ultimates line, not the main one, where Hawkeye is still a blond guy. Or a brunette girl, depending.

[quote]WTF is Two Spirit???!!!

Who TF knows! Back in the 90s they used to say it’s what native Americans call gays and lesbians. At some point in the last 10 years or so, the story changed and now they say it’s what native Americans call trannies and those assholes with 500 genders.

by Anonymousreply 9October 15, 2024 6:23 PM

Why do they keep legitimizing these nuts?

by Anonymousreply 10October 15, 2024 6:37 PM

Who wanted this?

by Anonymousreply 11October 15, 2024 6:39 PM

Two Spirit was a Native American term that meant something similar to nonbinary or trans does now.

The concept has existed, like many eldergays at the DL, for hundreds - if not thousands - of years, and was meant to describe people who had aspects of both genders.

R12 I do remember though back in the 90s the term “two spirit“ being used for gays and lesbians.

by Anonymousreply 13October 15, 2024 7:05 PM

Yes, I remember that too. I think there was an attempt to try out different descriptive words.
