Eureka
I’ve been on a bit of a Nicolas Roeg binge and I just watched Eureka again.
Anyone else see it? Thoughts?
I really like it, Hackman is so interesting as the richest man in the world but sort of plays it indifferently. Theresa Russell is stunning in certain scenes here, her eyes are beautiful. Rutger Hauer is also rather dishy in this with a look sort of reminiscent of Jude Law in the Talented Mr Ripley but slightly more masculine.
Over all I find this to be a great underrated movie. I have seen and loved most of Roeg’s work- my favourites being The Witches, Performance, Don’t Look Now and Walkabout.

I remember it felt like a fever dream. Theresa Russell did a long razzy worthy monologue. Shame it was a massive flop only getting 123k on an 11 million budget.

Fever dream is a great way to describe it as R1 says. It’s a weird fucking movie. Most (all?) of Nic Roeg’s films are, but I love them. Eureka is especially wacky and plays kind of like an epic of sorts. Track 29, which Russell starred in with Christophee Lloyd and Gary Oldman a few years later, is also very weird.
